SPOKANE, Wash. – The University of Great Falls came back from a five point halftime deficit to defeat Northwest University 63-58 at the CCC-Frontier Challenge at Spokane Falls Community College.
 
Northwest would take an early 11-8 lead as Corinne Burke would hit a jumper at the 10:39 mark. But, baskets by UGF’s Lindsey Abramson and Mary Wilmore would give the Argos a 16-15 lead with 7:36 to go in the half. An 8 to 5 run by Northwest capped off by Chanara Greene’s basket would make it 24-20 with 2:54 left on the clock. Domi Mendezona would score and NU would hit 4 straight free throws to increase their lead to six, 30-24, with 1:06 remaining and after a UGF free throw, the Eagles would take a 30-25 lead at the half.
 
Sanda Milovic would hit two free throws as NU would lead 34-27, 2 ½ minutes into the second half, but Great Falls would outscore the Eagles 11-5 to pull to within one, 39-38, at the 13:22 mark. Northwest would maintain a slim lead for the next 5 minutes, but two free throws by Taylor Statton would tie the score at 46-all with 7:45 left in the contest. With NU holding on to a 49-48 lead at the 6:24 mark, UGF would take the lead for good as Erin Legel would hit a jumper and Lindsey Abramson would drop in two free throws for a 52-49 lead. A Legel 3 pointer would increase the lead to sic, 55-49, but NU’s Sanda Milovc would cut that lead into half with her 3 pointer with 4:44 to go. Corinne Burke would hit a jumper  with 2:46 on the clock to make it a 3 point ball game, 57-54, but UGF would hit six straight free throws to go up 63-57 with 24 seconds left as they would earn the 63-58 victory.
 
Sanda Milovic led Northwest U. (0-2) with 14 points while teammate Jenna Lewis added 13 points and Corinne Burke contributed 11 points for the Eagles. NU shot 24% for the game and 70% from the free throw line.
 
Great Falls (4-2) was led by Erin Legel’s 17 points and 6 rebounds. Lindsey Abramson had 16 points and 10 rebounds to register a double-double. Kindra Jones added 13 points and 9 rebounds for the Argonauts who managed only 29% shooting for the night. UGF out rebounded NU 44-40 including 17 offensive rebounds.
