CWU's Strong First Half Downs Northwest
ELLENSBURG, Wash. - NCAA Division II Central Washington used a hot shooting first half to power them over the NU Eagles, 89-52, this afternoon in an exhibition game.
The Wildcats would build a lead on the Eagles as they hit 60% of their shots (22 of 37) in the first half to build a 56-21 halftime lead. Northwest would only hit 7 of 23 of their shots for 30% as they couldn’t get shots to fall for them.
In the second half the Eagle defense went to work and the Wildcats cooled in their shooting as they hit just 33% of their attempts. CWU edged the Eagles 33-31 in the second half as NU settled in. A bright spot for Northwest was Alyssa Darios’ 13 points and 50% shooting as she hit 4 of 8 from the field. NU also hit 50% from beyond the 3 point line making 5 of their 10 attempts.
Jenna Lewis scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds and Corinne Burke scored 5 points and totaled 6 rebounds for the Eagles.
