For the second time this season, freshman Julia Young led Corban in scoring with a team-best 13 points off the bench Sunday against nationally-ranked Lewis & Clark in the finale of the Bon Appetit Tournament in Portland.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Freshman Julia Young scored a team-high 13 points off the bench, as Corban University fell to tournament-host and the NCAA Division III's No. 11-ranked Pioneers of Lewis & Clark, 82-54, Sunday in the finale of the Bon Appetit Tournament inside the Pamplin Sports Center.

Today's results moves Corban to 2-4 overall, while Lewis & Clark remains unbeaten so far this year at 2-0.

Along with Young, senior Tess Bennett was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field en route to scoring eight points and sophomore Tara Vanweerdhuizen added eight points, seven rebounds, and a game-high three blocked shots. Sophomore Danielle Vanderstoel grabbed a game-high tying eight rebounds, while senior Emily Tsugawa handed out a team-high four assists.

Lewis & Clark would score the game's opening seven points before pushing its lead to double-digits (12-2) on a three-pointer by Kristina Williams with 17:11 on the clock. The host Pioneers would continue to apply the offensive pressure, as LCC scored 20 of the game's final 22 points en route to securing an 18-point lead (20-2) in the opening five-plus minutes of play. Corban would pull within 13 points (20-7) on a three-pointer by Young with 13:16 remaining before Lewis & Clark settled for a 29-point lead (51-22) at halftime.

The second half would begin with Lewis & Clark pushing its lead to a game-high 37 points (71-34) on an old-fashion three-point play by Williams with 13:46 left in the game. The host Pioneers would continue to hold a 30-plus point lead until the game's final minute when Corban got a jumper from sophomore Katherine Salness and a free throw by freshman Kendra Staymates for the final margin of 28 points (82-54).

Williams would lead Lewis & Clark with a game-high 32 points on 12-for-13 shooting from the field that included a perfect 3-for-3 showing from beyond the three-point line, while Tayler Wang was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures with 13 points. Williams would also grab a game-high tying eight rebounds, while Sara Villanueva handed out a game-high seven assists.

As a team, Corban combined to shoot 18-for-45 (40.0%) from the field that also included a 4-for-15 (26.7%) performance from beyond the three-point line and a 14-for-23 (60.9%) showing at the free throw line. On the other hand, Lewis & Clark was 28-for-62 (45.2%) from the field, 8-for-24 (33.3%) from long distance, and 18-for-27 (66.7%) at the charity stripe.

Corban will return to action on Tuesday, November 20th, in an exhibition game against NCAA Division I member Portland State beginning at 7:00 p.m. inside the Stotts Center in Portland.
