Cavs Improve to 3-0 with William Jessup Win

ROCKLIN, Calif.—Behind a 28-point performance by Malori Dixon, Concordia defeated William Jessup 68-61 in non-conference women’s basketball action on Monday night.
In the first half of two road contests in a California road trip, Concordia held William Jessup to 37.1 percent shooting from the floor to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
Dixon, who led the court with her 28 points and nine rebounds, helped the Cavaliers to the seven-point win after holding a slim 28-27 lead at the break.
Lexi Amundsen and Caitlyn McCutcheon each grabbed eight boards to propel the Cavaliers to a 48-23 advantage on the glass.
With the posts grabbing the rebounds, CU guards Gabi Beyer and Kelly Huey provide additional offense with 12 points each. Huey continued her strong all-around play to start the season with seven assists and six rebounds on top of her point total.
Despite holding the edge in shooting and rebounds, the Warriors remained in contention for the win by converting 11 of 32 from 3-point territory with Ashley Rose and Nicole McDonald each connecting on four occasions from long range. Rose paced the Warriors with 19 points to 14 for her teammate.
Concordia will continue its road swing at Simpson College for a 6 p.m. match in Redding, Calif. The Cavs will return home for a Nov. 27 match against Lewis & Clark State.
