EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men’s basketball completed a season sweep of William Jessup University on Saturday night, once again holding the Warriors under 50 points in a 60-49 victory.
The Beacons held a 28-26 lead at halftime but saw a spirited WJU squad force four ties and eight lead changes during the final 20 minutes. Trailing 45-44 with six minutes to play, NCU went on a 13-3 run, fueled by back-to-back three-point buckets from Jordan Myers and Wyatt Taboh-Graziano. This gave the Beacons an eleven point lead that they would not relinquish.
The Northwest Christian University defense had another strong night, holding Jessup under 30% shooting as the Warriors were just 5-for-24 from the field after the intermission.
NCU (5-3) was led by senior Jordan Buhler (pictured), shooting 8-for-9 from the floor for 18 points and nine rebounds, both game highs. Taboh-Graziano added twelve points while Travis Pacos came off the bench to contribute eight points and three steals. Gio Guzman played valuable minutes off the bench, collecting a game-high six assists. Myers finished with seven points, three assists and a pair of steals.
William Jessup (1-6) was led by Jordan Wilson with 15 points. Kirill Sergeyev scored just two points but led WJU with six rebounds. Tim Oswald and Ben Chung combined for 21 points off the bench for the Warriors with Oswald picking up a pair of blocks.
The Beacons will be back in action on Tuesday with Simpson University coming to town at 7:30 pm.
