SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Felicity Jones and Dayna Drager each scored 13 points and The College of Idaho forced 30 turnovers, as the Lady Yotes picked up their first-ever victory over Lewis-Clark State, routing their Gem State rivals, 75-44, at the Westminster Fall Classic.
The Lady Yotes (2-0) were 0-9 all-time against the NAIA Division I squad from Lewiston heading into the game, but never trailed in the contest.
Drager canned a pair of three's in the opened four minutes, as the Yotes sprinted to a 10-3 lead. Jones would lead the charge midway through the first half, hitting a three-pointer and a mid-range jumper in a 7-0 run, as the Purple and Gold built a 33-17 lead and led by 19 at the break.
The C of I put the game away midway through the second half, as a trey by Chakala Carthen jumpstarted a 21-3 spurt to give the Coyotes a 68-33 lead with eight minutes to play and the squad cruised to the win.
Drager was 3-for-6 from outside the arc in the win, with Jones adding seven rebounds and a team-high six assists. Carthen scored 12 points, Katelin Shannon had eight points and a team-high eight steals, while Laura Geis logged 11 rebounds.
The Warriors (0-2), ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Division I poll, were playing without their leading scorer Brittaney Niebergall - but got 19 points from Shelby Barnes.
The C of I returns to action tomorrow afternoon, meeting Montana Western at 4 p.m.
