Second Half Run Lifts Lady Yotes Past Montana Western

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Katelin Shannon led four College of Idaho players in double-figures with 15 points, as the Lady Yotes won their third-straight game, stopping Montana Western 68-49, at Behnken Fieldhouse.

The Lady Yotes (3-0) opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take a 42-33 lead and led by as many as 17 in the final 20 minutes.

The first half saw six ties and nine lead changes, as The C of I took a 23-18 lead on a Sienna Edmunson lay-up at the 10-minute mark of the period. The Bulldogs would answer with an 11-2 run, capped by a Kelsey Callaghan three, to lead 29-25 wth 5:31 left. The Yotes would chip away, taking the lead at the break on a buzzer-beating Dayna Drager three.

Kylie Hardison put the game away midway through the second half, scoring three-straight baskets in a 14-2 run to give the Yotes a 64-47 lead with three minutes left.

Drager had 13 points and five rebounds, Chakala Carthen had 11 points and six rebounds, with Laura Geis recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Yotes. The C of I had a 40-31 rebound edge and hit 49-percent of their field goal attempts.

Sammi Bignell led Western with 16 points, with Kaci Matthies adding 10, but the Bulldogs hit just 1-of-16 three-point tries.

The Yotes close out the trip with a 6 p.m. match-up against No. 5 ranked Westminster tomorrow night.
