Tedder's Nine Three-Pointers Lead No. 12 SOU to 100-93 Overtime Win

ASHLAND – It took an extra five minutes, but No. 12 Southern Oregon hit 16 three-pointers to take down College of Idaho 100-93 in Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s basketball action Saturday night at Bob Riehm Arena.
Southern Oregon improves to 11-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while College of Idaho falls to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the CCC. Both teams return to action Friday, with the Raiders traveling to Portland to take on Concordia and the Coyotes hosting Northwest at 7:30 p.m.
Kyle Tedder tied a team and personal record with nine three-pointers, connecting on nine of his 13 shot attempts from beyond the arc to tie for the game-high point total with 32, while adding six assists. Eric Thompson tallied 32points on 10-of-16 shooting and added 13 rebounds to lead Southern Oregon. Taylor Roos and Terriel Thomas each finished with 10 points in the win.
Rodney Delgardo led College of Idaho with 23 points, while Antonio Garrett posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Taylor Pruett added 19 points, Sydney Donaldson finished with 15 and Ben Van Lith totaled 13 in the loss.
Southern Oregon overcame 30 turnovers to earn the victory, as the Raiders connected on 56.6 percent of their shots (30-of-53), including 16-of-26 from beyond the arc. College of Idaho picked up 36 points off turnovers and 42 points in the paint to the Raiders’ 22 points down low as the Yotes shot 47.9 percent (35-of-73).
The Raiders claimed an early 10-point lead at 18-8 before College of Idaho scored 10 straight points to tie it up. The first half remained close for the next 10 minutes before consecutive three-pointers by Tedder helped SOU close the half on a 10-0 run to claim a 41-30 halftime advantage.
College of Idaho shot 69.2 percent (18-of-26) in the second half to outscore SOU 52-41 and force overtime. The Yotes opened the half on a 19-7 run to regain the lead on a three-pointer by Delgardo. Four consecutive free throws by Donaldson midway through the period gave the Yotes a 10-point lead, their largest of the game.
Thompson dropped a three to end the C of I run and spark an SOU comeback, with another Thompson trey tying it up at 73 apiece with 4:32 remaining in regulation. Neither team led by more than two through the end of the second period, with both teams missing shots in the final 10 seconds to force overtime with the game tied at 82-82.
The teams exchanged points in the first 2:30 of the overtime period, with the game’s final tie scoring coming after a pair of Tedder free throws made it 88-88. David Sturner hit a layup to put SOU up 90-88 with 1:22 left to go, and Tedder hit his record-tying three on the Raiders’ next possession. Southern Oregon made five of six free throw attempts down the stretch, and a layup by Roos helped SOU reach triple-digits for the second time this season and claim the 100-93 victory.
