WP Men Power Past La Sierra
COSTA MESA, Calif. - The Warner Pacific men's basketball team dispatched La Sierra University 90-59 at the Vanguard University Tournament today.
With the result, the #14 Knights improve to 12-4 on the season, while LSU falls to 3-13.
Playing on Vanguard's home court for the third time this season, the Knights jumped out to 10-0 lead in the opening moments and never trailed versus the Eagles. Doug Thomas led the way with 18 points, while Ryan Parks continued his hot shooting with 15 points.
WP led by as many 16 points (26-10) in the first half, but La Sierra managed to rally breifly by drawing within eight points at 30-22. The Knights closed the period on a 20-4 run however, and held a commanding 50-26 lead at the break.
Warner Pacific kept their distance from LSU throught the second half as well, leading by as many as 34 before settling for the non-conference win.
Stephen Harris added 13 points and 10 rbounds for Warner Pacific. The Knights shot 51 percent from the field, and his 17 of 20 tries from the free throw line.
Bennett Shaw and Taylor Scharffenberg scored 11 points each for La Sierra.
