KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2012 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-America Teams, as selected by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee.

Columbia (Mo.) senior setter Paula Ferreira has been named the 2012 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Player of the Year. Ferreira was the 2010 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Player of the Year recipient and is fifth person to win the award twice. She is the second two-timewinner from Columbia to win the award twice as Yang Zhe also won the award in 1997 and 1998. Ferreira was also the Tachikara National Championship Most Valuable Player.

Ferreira led Columbia to a runner-up finish at the 2012 national championship and a 42-2 overall record. The 5-9 native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, served as the key piece in the Cougars' 36-match winning streak before falling to Concordia (Calif.), 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19, in the title match. Ferreira finished the year first in the NAIA with 12.18 assists per set, first in aces with 82 and second in total assists with 1,766.

Columbia's Melinda Wyre-Washington was named the 2012 NAIA Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to their eighth national title appearance in school history. Wyre-Washington also received the Coach of the Year award in 2004.
For the second-straight year the Coach of the Year and Player of the Year come from the same school. Concordia's (Calif.) Dan Fisher and Brooke Marino accomplished the feat last season.

National champion, Concordia landed senior Brooke Marino and junior Madison Ekis on the Tachikara-NAIA First Team All-America list, while junior Mi Le and sophomore Reanna Schelhaas on the second team All-America list.
