EUGENE, Ore. – After jumping out to an early 7-0 lead and allowing just one Bruin field goal in the first five minutes of the game, the Northwest Christian University men’s basketball was unable to hold on, falling 63-60 on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at the Morse Event Center.
The Beacons held GFU to 44% shooting and forced 14 turnovers while out-rebounding the Bruins 37-28, but 56% free-throw shooting for NCU and ten George Fox steals proved to be the difference in a tight contest.
NCU (7-5) was led by Trevor Parker (pictured), scoring 19 points and five rebounds. Brody McGowan added eleven points and six boards. Jordan Buhler scored eight points and led all players with ten rebounds and three blocks.
George Fox (4-3) had four players in double-figures with Anthony Sanchez at the top of the list. After scoring GFU’s first five points, the point guard finished with 12 points and a game-high four assists. Sean Atkins and A.J. Grant added eleven points apiece while Jon Adrian shot 4-for-5 for ten points.
Northwest Christian will play another Northwest Conference foe on Friday night, hosting Lewis & Clark at 7:00 pm.
