NAMPA, Idaho - A dominating performance by The College of Idaho women's distance medley relay team capped an oustanding opening day of the 2012 Boise State Team Challenge, inside the Jackson's Indoor Track.

The team of Hillary Holt, Jasmine Sibert, Kayloni Perry, and Sarah Johnson easily outdistanced the University of Nevada and Stanislaus State for the win, recording the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season with their mark of 12:07.60. The time established a new school-record in the event and hit the NAIA "A" qualifying standard.

Three other indoor records fell in the heptathlon, as both Austin Basterrechea and Mike Hurd put up quality performances in the first four events of the two-day competition. Hurd won the 60-meters in a school-record time of 7.11, with Basterrechea setting a record in placing second in the long jump (22-3), while breaking the former mark in the high jump (6-6 1/4). Basterrechea sits in fifth-place after Day 1 with 2,828 points - well ahead of his mark set earlier this season at the Jackson's Invitational, while Hurd is in sixth with 2,518 - in position to hit the NAIA "A" standard.

Day 2 of the meet begins tomorrow at 9 a.m.
