Red Lion Athletes of the Week Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore. -- Six schools are represented in this week's Red Lion Cascade Collegiate Conference Athletes of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12, the conference office announced Monday.
The honorees:
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Warner Pacific College’s Chelsey Christensen, a 5-9 junior guard from West Linn, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Christensen helped the Knights sweep the weekend at home, including a big win over No. 10 Corban, and move into a tie for first place atop the conference standings. She shot 52 percent from the field this weekend and finished 30 points and 19 rebounds.
Christensen was 6-for-8 from the field with 17 points against Northwest Christian Friday. She added seven rebounds in the game, and made all five of her free-throw attempts. Against Corban Saturday, Christensen had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Oregon Tech’s Bobby Hunter, a 6-0 freshman guard from Reno, Nev., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Hunter shot 20-of-29 from the floor, including 5-for-11 from behind the perimeter, to average 25 points and lift the Owls to a pair of CCC wins over Evergreen and eighth-ranked Northwest.
Friday, Hunter totaled 24 points in 25 minutes against Evergreen. He was 10-of-13 against the Geoducks. The following night, Hunter had 26 points in the matchup of top 10 teams against Northwest. He added six rebounds, four assists and three steals against the Eagles.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK
The College of Idaho’s Hillary Holt, a sophomore from Boise, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Holt ran the second fastest time in the NAIA in the mile, becoming first Lady Yote to go under the five-minute mark, beating a NCAA Div. I-laden field at the Boise State University Team Challenge.
Holt ran the lead leg of the winning DMR on Friday night, recording the second fastest time in the NAIA and crushing C of I's school record.

WOMEN'S INDOOR FIELD
Concordia University’s Gabriella Dixson, a junior from Battle Ground, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Dixson, a five-time NAIA All-American, hit an indoor personal record in the shot put by two feet with a 46 feet, 6 .75 inch effort at the University of Washington Invitational.
She followed that performance up with a near personal record in the weight throw with a 56 feet, 8.75 inch heave. Her marks put the junior at No. 3 on the NAIA's shot put performance list and No. 5 on the weight throw list.
MEN'S INDOOR TRACK
Eastern Oregon’s Brian Bragg, a senior from Burbank, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Bragg receives the award for the second straight week. He set a new school record in the 3,000 meters at the Boise State University Team Challenge. The senior ran an auto-qualifying time of 8:30.12. He broke his previous personal record by 40 seconds.
Bragg won the event, beating out several NCAA Div. 1 runners. His time is currently 10th in the NAIA.
Honorable mention: Matthew Clowes, Concordia; Greg Montgomery, College of Idaho.
MEN'S INDOOR FIELD
Eastern Oregon’s Robbie Haynie, a senior from Nampa, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
At the Boise State University Team Challenge, the senior finished with 5,454 points in the heptathlon, a new high point total in the NAIA. It was also 20 points shy of his national championship total last season when he won the heptathlon national title.
Haynie's high jump mark of six feet, 11 inches is the current high mark in the NAIA. He still owns the highest pole vault mark as well. The senior finished second in the event.
Honorable mention: Austin Basterrechea, College of Idaho.
BASEBALL PITCHER
Corban’s Ryan Rodriguez, a sophomore from Riverside, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Rodriguez helped lead Corban's baseball team to three wins this weekend at the season-opening Swing Into Spring Baseball Classic, as the first-year Warrior picked up a victory and a pair of saves.
He finished with two saves and a win in 3.2 innings of work. Rodriguez allowed one hit and no earned runs. He had a strikeout and a walk.
Honorable mention: Larsen Kohler, Concordia; Taylor Nicholson, College of Idaho.
BASEBALL PLAYER
College of Idaho’s Jesse Dodd, a junior first baseman from Eagle, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Dodd helped the Yotes to four wins in a series with Whitman College. He went 8-for-11 with six doubles, knocking in five runs. Dodd finished the weekend with a .727 batting average and a 1.273 slugging percentage.
The junior had two doubles in each of the first three games, and two RBI in games two and three. He was 3-for-3 in the first game and 3-of-4 in the second game.
