COMPLETE RESULTS

SEATTLE—In the third straight day of competition at the Dempsey Indoor located on the campus of the University of Washington, Concordia University set four school records at the UW Indoor Open on Sunday.

The marks added to an already impressive weekend for the Cavaliers as CU combined to set six school records during their stay in Seattle.

On Sunday, both the men’s and the women’s 600-meter run marks were toppled with Junia Limage and Jasen Brown etching their names in the records books. Limage placed third overall with a 1:33.92 while Brown placed snared first place out of 18 participants with a 1:19.94.

Both marks easily fell below the NAIA ‘A’ standard for entry into the indoor national championships held in March in Geneva, Ohio. Brown’s time converts to the No. 5 effort on the NAIA indoor performance list while Limage holds down the No. 2 performance.

Limage now holds three CU indoor records with the top marks in the 800 and 1,000 already to her credit.

Joining Limage with three school records, NyEma Sims shattered the Concordia indoor all-time best in the 400-meter dash with a meet-winning 56.09. With 60 athletes finishing the event, Sims tackled the field by .50 seconds as the next fastest time came from Fresno State’s Latrisha Jordan (56.69).

In the final event on the track, the Concordia men’s 1,600-meter relay squad turned in a gold-medal performance with a school-record 2:20.60. Edgar Vazquez, James Ratliff and Andre Washington joined Brown for the record relay. The Cavs outpaced runner-up Western Oregon (3:22.55) by nearly two full seconds, but fell just shy of the NAIA provisional qualifying barrier.

The Cavs did receive a number of additional qualifiers in the middle-distance event groups. Cordero Cisneros flirted with the school record in the 1,000 with a 2:27.76 but nabbed the ‘A’ standard with the NAIA’s No. 2 overall time in the event. In the women’s 1,000, Lauren Moran clocked a 3:02.51 to clear the ‘B’ standard.

Already entered in the 3,000 and the 5,000, Matthew Clowes added an auto qualifier in the 800 with a 1:54.32 while Emily Painter and Sarah Whybark topped the ‘A’ standard in the women’s 3,000 with times of 10:16.16 and 10:16.69 to give the duo the NAIA’s No. 14 and No. 15 times in the event.

In the field events, the CU men recorded provisional performances in the high jump and the weight throw. Matthew Water soared 6-6 3/4 for the minimum qualifying standard while Matthew Webster hurled a 54-4 1/2 in the weight throw to accomplish the feat.
