WPC Women's Soccer Signs Four for 2012
PORTLAND, Ore. - Head women's soccer coach Oscar Monteblanco today announced the signing of four players to letters of intent for the 2012 season.
Hannah Milhollen arrives from Clark College in Vancouver, where she scored 4 goals and had 1 assist as a sophomore from her defensive midfield position. Hannah attended Columbia River HS in Vancouver, and has several years of club soccer experience. She is currently coaching U13 girls for Pacific FC.
"Hannah has a natural sense of positioning," said coach Monteblanco. "She is fast, aggressive, and has strong footwork. Her kicks are accurate and she demonstrates good patience with the ball at her feet. She is a strong and smart athlete on and off the field."
Trisha Duhram is a 5-5 forward from Chemekata Community College in Salem, where she played for two seasons and scored 23 goals during her career. She was a four year varsity player at North Valley HS in Grants Pass, Ore, and has six years of club soccer experience.
"Trisha’s game is all about speed," said coach Monteblanco. "With or without the ball she is a tough player to mark. She is a very smart player with a great understanding of the game so she makes great adjustments within the game. She will be a dangerous attacking player for us."
Elena Acosta from Chemeketa Community College will join the Knights in 2012. A 5-4 forward, Acosta was the NWAACC South Region MVP in 2011 after scoring 21 goals during her sophomore year.
"Elena is a player with natural talent and skill," said coach Monteblanco. "She is extremely fast and her ball handling skills set her apart, which will give us a real goal scoring threat. Elena is a versatile and gifted athlete with tremendous speed that makes her a tough mark."
The first high school player to sign with Warner Pacific for 2012 is 1st Team All-League performer Roxana Gomez from Hood River Valley High School. Gomez is a 5-6 forward with many years of high school and club soccer experience.
"Roxana has all the makings of an outstanding college player," said Monteblanco. "She plays the sport like it should be played. She is aggressive and has a nose for the goal, and is fearless in traffic. She knows how to read a pass, thinking ahead in order to set up the plays. I also love that she is not selfish with the ball, doing whatever it takes to win the game."
"We are off to a great start with recruiting for next season," said Monteblanco. "Our goal is to continue our improvement as a program by adding dedicated players who are quality student-athletes. I think we are on our way to bringing in the talent and depth we need to become a top program in our conference."
