Pairings Set for CCC Men's Basketball Tournament
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Oregon Tech and Northwest University shared the 2011-12 Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season men’s basketball crown and will enter the upcoming eight-team CCC Tournament as the top two seeds. Both teams finished their 18-game regular season conference slates with 15-3 records.
Oregon Tech earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament by virtue of its two-game series sweep of the Eagles. The Hustlin’ Owls, under the direction of veteran coach Danny Miles, are seeking their fourth consecutive conference tournament title.
No. 10 Northwest, the regular season co-champ with OIT, is seeded second. No. 12 Warner Pacific is seeded third and Eastern Oregon received the fourth seed. The top four seeds will host quarterfinal playoff games Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Corban is seeded No. 5 after owning a tiebreaker over Southern Oregon. The Raiders are seed No. 6, Concordia No. 7 and College of Idaho No. 8.
The winner of the CCC tournament will earn the conference’s second automatic bid to next month’s national championships, which are slated for March 7-13 in Point Lookout, Mo. If Oregon Tech wins the CCC tournament, the conference’s second automatic bid will be awarded to the tournament runner-up.
