Pairings Set for CCC Women's Basketball Tournament
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference office released the 2012 women’s basketball tournament fields Saturday. The women’s tournament begins Tuesday, with the higher seeds hosting the first round game.
No. 10 Corban earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament with its outright regular season conference title. The Warriors, by earning the top seed, secured one of the CCC’s two automatic bids to next month’s NAIA Div. 2 Championships in Sioux City, Iowa. The winner of the conference tournament (or the runner-up, should Corban win it) will secure the CCC’s second automatic berth to the national tournament, which is scheduled for March 7-13.
No. 23 College of Idaho received the second seed, Eastern Oregon University is seeded third and Warner Pacific College is fourth. The top four seeds will host CCC quarterfinal playoff games Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Semifinals are set for Friday, Feb. 24, with the championship game slated for Monday, Feb. 27.
Oregon Tech earned the tournament’s No. 5 seed. Northwest is seeded sixth, Southern Oregon seventh, and Evergreen is eighth.
Seeding was based on regular season conference finish.
