Three CCC Women's Teams in Top 25
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has a combined total of nine teams representing the conference in the latest NAIA Div. 2 women’s and men’s basketball Top 25 polls released Monday.
In the women’s poll, the CCC has a trio of teams in the top 25 for the first time since the 2009-10 preseason poll on Oct. 26, 2009. Corban remains No. 10 in the poll. The Warriors (21-6, 15-3) won home games over Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech. The College of Idaho moved from No. 23 to No. 20 this week. The Lady Yotes (19-8, 14-4) swept its home series over Concordia and Warner Pacific.
Eastern Oregon (22-7, 13-5 Cascade Collegiate Conference) returned to the top 25 at No. 25. The Mountaineers picked up a pair of wins at home over the weekend over Concordia and Warner Pacific. The Knights (19-10, 13-5) went from one spot out of the poll to four spots out after dropping its pair of games on the road.
On the men’s side, the Cascade Conference was led by Oregon Tech’s No. 3 ranking. The Hustlin’ Owls (26-4, 15-3) fell from the nation’s top spot after being upset on the road at Corban Saturday. OIT was awarded the conference’s first automatic bid to the national tournament as regular season CCC champion after beating Northwest Christian Friday.
Northwest (25-3, 15-3) rose from No. 10 to No. 9 following its road win at Evergreen to close the regular season. Warner Pacific (22-7, 14-4) dropped from No. 12 to No. 15 after splitting the weekend with a loss at Eastern Oregon and a win at The College of Idaho. Eastern (19-8, 11-7) received 26 votes in the poll, three spots out of the top 25. Corban (18-12, 10-8) received one vote in the poll.
