KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Corban University sophomore Jordan Carter became only the second Warrior in men's basketball program history to be named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II Player of the Week Tuesday, as announced by the national office.

"Jordan had an outstanding weekend and helped our team to two great wins," said head coach Justin Sherwood. "Jordan shot the ball extremely well from 3-point range and made good choices on when to attack the basket. I hope his great play continues throughout the conference tournament."

The 6-foot-2 guard joins former Warrior All-American Eric Fiegi as the only two players in Corban men's basketball history to be honored with this national award and the first Warrior since the 2005-06 season.

Over the weekend, Carter helped lead Corban (18-12 overall, 10-8 CCC) to back-to-back victories over nationally-ranked Southern Oregon and No. 1-ranked Oregon Tech. The second-year Warrior averaged 35.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in helping Corban earn the CCC Postseason Tournament's No. 5-seed.

Against Southern Oregon, Carter scored a game and career-high 35 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field that included a 5-for-8 showing from beyond the three-point line. Carter was also 12-for-13 at the free throw line, while leading the team with six rebounds and five assists.

Twenty-four hours later, Carter equaled his career-high performance from the night before with a game-high 35 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field that included a 6-for-7 showing from long distance. Carter also knocked down 11-of-14 shots at the free throw line, while pulling down a team-high six rebounds and dishing out a team-best tying two assists.

Over the weekend, Carter combined to hit 18-of-28 shots from the field, including 11-for-15 from three-point range, while knocking down 23-of-27 at the line. Carter hit 64.3% of his shots from the field, 73.3% of his three-pointers, and 85.2% of his free throws against the Raiders and Hustlin' Owls combined.

In the game versus Oregon Tech on Saturday, Carter also etched his name in the history books becoming the 27th player in Corban men's basketball history to score 1,000-or-more points in a career thanks to a three-pointer at the 19:40 mark of the second half following a 20-point performance over the opening twenty minutes.

Carter leads the Warriors in 13 statistical categories this season, including minutes played (934), minutes per game (32.2), field goals made (167), field goals attempted (341), three-point field goals made (64), three-point field goals attempted (131), three-point field goal percentage (0.489), free throw percentage (0.812), rebounds per game (5.1), assists (104), assists per game (3.6), total points (510), and points per game (17.6).

Nationally, Carter ranked among the Top 50 players in NAIA Division II in six statistically categories that includes three-point field goal percentage (3rd - 0.489), free throw percentage (32nd - 0.812), total scoring (34th - 510), points per game (40th - 17.586), total assists (48th - 104), and assists per game (48th - 3.586).

This is the first national award for Carter, as he joins fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes Bobby Hunter of Oregon Tech and Concordia's Adam Herman as NAIA Division II National Players of the Week this season. Carter has also been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week three times this year.
