No Upsets in First Round of CCC Men's Tournament
LA GRANDE, Ore. – All the higher seeds in the Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s basketball tournament advanced to Saturday’s semifinals with victories Wednesday.
Top-seeded Oregon Tech eased to a 79-53 win over eighth-seeded Oregon Tech. Bobby Hunter scored a game-high 18 points to lead the No.3 Owls. Ninth-ranked Northwest, the tournament’s second-seed, rallied to a 92-83 win over seventh-seeded Concordia. Michael Greene posted a game-high 24 points to lead the Eagles.
Warner Pacific, the third seed, held off upset-minded sixth-seeded Southern Oregon in overtime, 82-78. The No. 15 Knights were led by Biniam Tadele’s 18 points. Fourth-seeded Eastern Oregon won its fifth straight game with a 75-62 victory over Corban, the fifth seed. Jamar Johnson scored 16 points to lead the Mountaineers.
With the four top seeds advancing the semifinals are all set for Saturday. Oregon Tech welcomes Eastern Oregon, while Northwest hosts Warner Pacific. Both tipoffs are scheduled for 7 p.m. More coverage will follow Friday with the release semifinal notes.
