EUGENE, Ore. – Trent Roos came off the bench to hit six three-pointers and lead Eastern Oregon with 21 points as the Mountaineers took care of Northwest Christian University on Saturday night, 84-72. EOU led the entire way, shooting 54% from the field.
The Beacons (10-16, 3-11) remain in an eighth-place tie in the CCC with the loss. Brody McGowan was the leading scorer for NCU, hitting 10-for-14 from the field including a 4-for-5 clip from three-point range for 25 points. McGowan added four steals. Brian Hampton scored 14 points and had a team-high four assists and Greg Shepard scored twelve and led NCU with six rebounds. The Beacons were out-rebounded 36-30.
Eastern (15-9, 8-7) got a strong 6-for-8 night out of Roos with every shot coming from behind the arch. His 21 points came in just 24 minutes of work. Travares Peterson added 16 points and three steals and Jamar Johnson scored 12 points before fouling out. Cody Thurmond scored five points and led all players with eight assists and Kyllian Wood came off the pine to score eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. EOU shot 11-for-19 from three-point range .
Northwest Christian will be back in action next Friday when they travel to face Warner Pacific. The Mounties will be at The College of Idaho. Both games will tip-off at 7:30 pm.
