Corban Women Reach Highest Ranking Ever
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has a combined total of eight teams representing the conference in the latest NAIA Div. 2 women’s and men’s basketball Top 25 polls released Monday.
In the women’s poll, Corban University (18-5, 12-2 Cascade Collegiate Conference) rose to the school’s highest ranking ever, No. 10, following its two victories at home over then-ranked No. 8 Eastern Oregon and The College of Idaho, who was just out of the top 25 last week. The Warriors have won eight straight games and 14 of their last 15 games. Corban now sits alone atop the conference standings.
Eastern (19-6, 11-4) dropped from No. 8 to No. 15 this week. The Mountaineers lost at Corban, 74-55, and then were upset at Northwest Christian in overtime, 74-64. EOU travels to The College of Idaho (16-8, 11-4) Friday. The Lady Yotes are one spot out the top 25 with 58 votes, 14 more votes than last week. Warner Pacific (17-8, 11-3) is three spots out of the top 25 with 19 more votes than last week, 31 this week.
On the men’s side, the Oregon Tech men (23-3, 12-2 Cascade Conference) remained the No. 2 team in the country following its win at home over Southern Oregon. OIT welcomes Northwest (23-2, 13-2) Saturday to Danny Miles Court. The Eagles rose from No. 11 to No. 8 after a weekend sweep at home over Concordia and previously-ranked No. 10 Warner Pacific. The Knights (19-6, 11-3) dropped from No. 10 to No. 12.
Southern Oregon (15-10, 8-6) is seven spots out of the top 25. The Raiders received 20 votes, two fewer than last week.
