Three Event Winners for WP at Pioneer Open
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Warner Pacific track & field team competed at the Pioneer Open today, bringing home three event wins.
The sunny and warm weather was a nice change for the competitors, and the performances improved to match.
Deborah McCloud placed first in the women's high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet 1 inch. Other notable performances for the ladies were Danielle Esquerra's 2nd place in the javelin (104-11), and Tiffany Nyssen's 3rd place in the pole vault (10-11.75)
On the men's side, Elton Cody continued his impressive showing in the sprint events by posting a 1st place finish the 400 meters (49.67), and new WPC record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.15.
Cody also anchored the Knight 4 x 100 relay team, and along with Connor Hart, Ka'imi Scott, and Treavone Bowie sprinted to victory in a time of 42.68.
Freshman Jonnie Clark cleared a height of 14 feet 0 inches in the pole vault and was gunning for the WPC record, but came up just short.
