Oregon Tech Splits with Golden Eagles

MEDFORD, Ore. - Oregon Tech scored three runs in the sixth inning of game 2 to bounce back from a 3-1 loss in the opener and split a non-conference baseball doubleheader with La Sierra, winning the nightcap 8-6 at Harry and David Field in Medford, Oregon. Oregon Tech now has a 13-17 overall mark with La Sierra moving to 3-18-1 on the season with the split.

 
In game 1, La Sierra scored 2-runs in the top of the first inning as the Golden Eagles took advantage of 3-walks and 2-hits in the opening frame and it would be all the offense they would need as starting pitcher Joe Mascarenaz pitched a complete game giving up just 6 hits and 1 run in 7 innings.
 
Oregon Tech’s Daniel Doty pitched well but picked up the loss falling to 0-3 on the season. Doty also pitched a complete game giving up just 7-hits and 3-runs over 7-innings.
 
In game 2, La Sierra jumped on the scoreboard early scoring 2-runs in the top of the 1st on 3-hits.
 
Oregon Tech would answer in the bottom of the 2nd innings as right fielder Dustin Norman hit a 2-run blast to tie the game at 2-2.
 
Third baseman Brad Walters would then give Oregon Tech a 4-3 lead in the bottom of third as he hit a 2-run double scoring Zack Earle and Tommy Wood.
 
The Golden Eagles then took the lead back in the 4th scoring 2 times on 3-hits to take a 5-4 lead.
 
The Hustlin’ Owls then tied the game at 5 in the bottom of the 4th
 
La Sierra took their final lead at 6-5 in the top of the 6th scoring 1-run on 2-hits.
 
Oregon Tech took the lead back for good in the bottom of the 6th scoring 3-runs on 3-hits highlighted by back to back doubles by Dylan Rogers and Zack Earle to give Tech a 8-5 lead.
 
La Sierra threatened in the top of the 7th but Tech’s Graig Kathol picked up his 2nd save of the year coming in to get the final 2-outs to end the game.
 
Oregon Tech’s Thomas Kizziar picked up the win as he improved to 2-0 on the season.
 
Dustin Aldrich picked up the loss for La Sierra.
 
Tech was led offensively by Dylan Rogers and Alex Reynolds who each had 2-hits in the win.
 
Oregon Tech will next play Willamette University in a non-conference double header on Tuesday, March 27th at 11:00 am at Harry and David Field in Medford, Oregon.
 
NOTE: Games moved from Klamath Falls to Medford because of poor field conditions in Klamath.
