KIKRLAND, Wash. - Northwest University seniors Paige DeLapp and Luke Fischer were honored as the Northwest University female and male athletes of the year at Friday's Hall of Fame banquet at the Westin Hotel in Bellevue.

DeLapp and Fischer have distinguished themselves in the classroom, competition and community service during their time at NU earning recognition in all areas.

Paige DeLapp, Cross Country and Track & Field - Paige is a senior on the cross country team and qualified as an individual to the 2011 NAIA Cross Country National Championships and was a member of the women’s team which finished 6th in the CCC Championships. The women’s team also received votes for NAIA national rankings during the 2011 season.

In track & field, Paige was an automatic qualifier to the NAIA National Indoor Championships in two events: the 1,000m run and the distance medley relay in the spring of 2011. At the nationals, Paige placed 9th out of 16 entrants in the 1,000m and the distance medley relay team finished 16th out of the 32 teams entered in the event. She won the 800m event at the spring, 2011 Spike Arlt Meet in Ellensburg.

Along with her athletic achievements, she is an active member at her church where she volunteers in the Children's Ministry. Also, she is one of the leaders for the women's track and field bible study.

Paige’s parents are Timm and Laurie DeLapp of Vancouver, Washington.

Northwest University Male Athlete of the Year

Luke Fischer, Men’s Soccer and Track & Field - Luke was the 2010 & 2011 team captain for the men’s soccer team. Named to the 2011 CCC Second Team All-Conference; Fall CCC and NAIA Scholar Athlete; 2011 CCC Champions of Character Award winner in the spring. Capital One Academic All-District 8 First Team (College Division) and second team Capital One Academic All-American second team for CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) for soccer. He scored 30 career goals in 68 games.

In track & field, Fischer set the school record in the javelin (202 feet) and was an 8th place finisher at the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He was runner-up at the 2011 CCC Track and Field Championships in the javelin. Luke was named a spring 2011 NAIA Scholar Athlete and CCC All-Academic team member.

These life-time best performances came after a long season of recovering from elbow surgery, where he spent most of 2010 rehabilitating his throwing arm. Luke has been active in many community service activities with his soccer team in Washington State and in his home town of Kalispell, Montana.

Luke’s parents are Daniel and Connie Fischer of Kalispell, Montana.
