PRIMM, Nev.—The Concordia men’s golf team finished tied for seventh at the loaded Grand View Invitational on Tuesday, ahead of two teams ranked in the NAIA Top 25.

Concordia shot 298 in the final round Tuesday to finish with a two-day total of 890 (307-285-298). That finish tied the Cavs with No. 19 University of Victoria and put them ahead of No. 21 The Master’s College and No. 10 Southwest Nazarene.

Meanwhile, No. 1 Oklahoma Christian, No. 2 Oklahoma City and No. 3 Grand View poetically finished first, second and third at the tournament. Oklahoma Christian won the tournament by nine strokes with an 862 total (294-283-285), while Oklahoma City (293-289-289—871) edged Grand View (300-287-287—874) for second by three strokes.

Individually, Jesse Heinly led the Cavs after shooting his second-straight, 2-under par round of 70 on Tuesday. Heinly placed seventh overall as a result with a 1-under par total of 215 (75-70-70). Behind him, Jed Dalton (75-71-78—224) and Jess Wingett (78-70-76—224) tied for 30th, while Cody Johnson (79-74-81—234) tied for 64th. Josh Vizcaino also competed for Concordia, steadily improving over all three rounds to finish 77th (86-79-74—239). 

The Concordia men will next compete at The College of Idaho Invitational on April 9-10. The tournament will resume the CCC title race, which Concordia leads by 63 strokes over Corban. In addition, Jesse Heinly leads the CCC Player of the Year race with a 72.56 scoring average, while teammate Jed Dalton ranks second with a 74.11 scoring average.
