KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- College of Idaho sophomore Nickayla Skinner was honored today as this week’s NAIA National Pitcher of the Week, announced by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.

The Mountain Home native had a monster week in the circle for the Lady Yotes, helping the team push their record to 22-6, their best start in program history.

It marks the second time that a Lady Yote has earned the prestigious award from the NAIA, as All-America pitcher, Katie Zillner, earned the honor during the 2008 season.

Skinner went 3-1 and added a save during the week for the Lady Yotes – allowing just one earned run in 25 innings of work, giving up just nine hits and striking out 37 batters. She tossed two-hit shutouts against both Concordia and Northwest Christian, followed by a one-hit shutout against Eastern Oregon.

The right-hander has allowed four or fewer hits in all 11 starts this season and leads the Cascade Conference with five shutouts, six games with 10-or-more strikeouts, and a 0.78 ERA.

The Lady Yotes return to action this weekend with road tilts at Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon.
