SALEM, Ore. - Garrett South sprinted to a personal best effort during a 1st place finish in the 110 hurdles, breaking the WPC record and posting a NAIA "B" qualifying time of 15.10 at the Willamette Invitational today.

The Knight Track & Field team as a whole competed well despite the cold and rain in the valley. Elton Cody also lowered the school record in the 100 meters (10.95 sec.) and placed 3rd in the event.

Robert Brewer slid under the 2 minute mark with a 1:58.87 effort in the 800 meters. WP's 4 x 100 meter relay team placed 2nd versus a tough field with a time of 42.66.

On the women's side, Erin Adams dipped under the one minute barrier in the 400 meters with a 5th place time of 59.77. Tiffany Nyssen continues to impress in the pole vault, clearing a height of 10 feet 6 inches.

"After spending 7.5 hours Friday night in 44 degree rain and wind," said head coach Dave Lee, "I was not so sure that any good thing would come out of this year's Willamette Invitational. I was WRONG! A national qualifying mark, two school records, and nine changes to our elite 8 lists is pretty good."
