Jesse Heinly shot a final round 68 to win C of I Invitational
WILDER, Idaho - Jesse Heinly shot a final round 68 to earn medalist honors, helping the Concordia University men’s golf team to the title of the 2012 College of Idaho Invitational at River Bend Golf Course.
The Cavaliers shot a final round one-under 287 to win the tournament for the fourth time in the last five years, finishing with a 54-hole score of 879.
Heinly finished with a two-under 214 on the 6,884-yard track, three shots ahead of Northwest Christian’s Tyler Falk. Round 2 co-leaders Jed Dalton of Concordia and Andrew Johnson of Warner Pacific finished third and fourth, Dalton at two-over 218 and Johnson tied with North Idaho’s Eli Bowen at three-over 219.
Day 1 leader North Idaho College finished nine strokes back of the Cavaliers (888), with Division II Northwest Nazarene placing third (899), thanks to a sixth-place finish by Nick Hardy (+5 221). Corban took fourth (903), led by a sixth-place finish from Joey Duwe (+5 221), with Warner Pacific fifth (906). Host C of I finished sixth (909), with Austen Giesie finishing in the sixth-place logjam (+5 221), followed by NCU (918).
The Cascade Conference teams close out the regular-season next Monday and Tuesday with the CCC Championships at Diamond Woods Golf Club in Oregon.
