ISSAQUAH, Wash. – Northwest University’s women’s soccer coach Erin Redwine will have a busy summer this year as she was recently named the head coach of the new Issaquah Soccer Club’s WPSL (Women’s Premier Soccer League) team.

The Women’s Premier Soccer League is a 60-plus team national pro-am league and is the largest women’s soccer league in the world. The league was formed in 1998 and is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). The WPSL’s mission is to provide the highest level of soccer in our effort to: bring affordable & quality family entertainment to the community; display positive role models for our youth; while, being a stepping stone for aspiring professional & international-level players.

The WPSL season runs from May 1st to August 6th which is the off-season for the NU Eagles soccer team. Regional Championships will be in San Diego, Calif., July 20-22 and Nationals will be in Orlando, Fla., July 27-29.

Said Coach Redwine about her appointment, “I am very excited about launching this team in my hometown where I was born and raised! The team will play during the summer months only, so it won't impact my commitment to NU in any way. We will be holding tryouts will be every Tuesday and Thursday this month, so hopefully the team will come together fast! The main emphasis for this WPSL team is to provide current college players, post college players, international, former professionals and local high school standouts the opportunity to play competitive soccer over the summer. Players will improve, stay fit and be challenged…and have a good time too!”

Redwine played her prep soccer at Issaquah High School and went on to play for the University of Montana from 1997-1999, then finished her college career at Seattle Pacific University where she was named team captain, All-Conference First team and Academic All-Star. Erin played semi-professional soccer for the Seattle Sounders from 2003 to 2010 in the W-League of the United Soccer League.
