MONROE, Ore. – Austin Geisie shot a two-under 70 in the opening round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference men’s golf championship on Monday, leading The College of Idaho to a two-stroke lead over Concordia University. All five teams were within an eleven-stroke margin with 18 holes remaining.
The Coyotes shot a first-round 301, followed by a 303 from the Cavaliers. Warner Pacific sits in third place headed into the final round with a 310, bunched closely with Northwest Christian (311) and Corban University (312).
Individually, Geisie holds a one-stroke lead over Concordia’s Jesse Heinly, who shot a one-under 71. A pair of NCU players followed with Tyler Falk shooting a 73 and Calvin Green firing a 74. Four players sit in a four-way tie for fifth place at 75.
The CCC Championship tournament, originally scheduled for 54 holes, was shortened to a 36-hole affair after a morning rain storm in the Willamette Valley delayed play until the afternoon on Monday.
