MONROE, Ore. – Sunny Powers shot a 75 on Monday to lead Concordia University to a six-stroke lead over The College of Idaho in the first round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship at Diamond Woods Golf Course.
The Cavaliers shot a 319, followed by the Yotes in second with a 325. Warner Pacific was well back in third place with a 350 and Corban sat in fourth at 380.
In the tight Player of the Year race, CI's Trish Gibbens shot a 76 while Concordia's Sara Molyneaux hit an 81, giving Gibbens a four-stroke lead heading into Tuesday's final regular-season round.
Behind leaders Powers and Gibbens, Northwest Christian University’s Sarah Crofcheck fired a 78 to sit in third, two shots ahead of Jocelyn Cracroft (CI) and Madison Alamillo (CU).
The CCC Championship tournament, originally scheduled for 54 holes, was shortened to a 36-hole affair after a morning rain storm in the Willamette Valley delayed play until the afternoon on Monday. Play concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
