MONROE, Ore. – The Concordia University men’s golf team claimed a seven-stroke victory at the final Cascade Collegiate Conference event of the season on Tuesday to claim the 2012 CCC Championship. Medalist honors at the CCC Championship, hosted by Diamond Woods GC, went to NCU’s Tyler Falk while Concordia’s Jesse Heinly (pictured, above) walked away with CCC Player of the Year honors.
The Cavaliers shot a 303-308=611 during the two-day event to hold off a late charge from Corban University (312-306=618). Warner Pacific was right behind in third (310-310=620) followed by Northwest Christian (311-312=623) and first-round leader College of Idaho (301-324=625).
Falk won his medalist honors behind back-to-back one-over 73’s, claiming a two-stroke victory over Warner Pacific’s Andrew Johnson (75-73=148). Sitting in a three-way tie for third were Heinly (71-78=149), CU’s Jed Dalton (75-74=149) and WPC’s John-Michael Pilot (77-72=149).
Also announced on Tuesday was the 2012 All-CCC team, based on a season-long scoring average. Heinly led the way, followed by Dalton, Joey Duwe (Corban), Johnson, and three from The College of Idaho; Austen Giesie, Kyle DeLorey, and Tyler Thurston.
Next up the CCC teams will travel to the NAIA Regional Qualifier, hosted by the California Pacific Conference on May 7-8 in Seaside, California.
