EUGENE, Ore. – After three years and two colleges, former Sheldon HS and Oregon State volleyball and basketball star Tami Brown has signed to return to Eugene to play both sports at Northwest Christian University. The former McDonalds High School All-American nominee spent two years playing for Oregon State before transferring to The Master’s College in California for her junior year.

Brown had a spectacular prep career for the Irish, earning multiple All-League honors over three sports during her career.

Brown will come in with one season of eligibility remaining for the volleyball program. She played two seasons for the Beavers and was named a Second-Team All-Academic Pac-10 selection in 2010. At 6’2”, Brown saw action as a Serving Specialist, Middle Blocker and Opposite Hitter. She played this past season in the NAIA’s highly competitive Golden State Athletic Conference, leading The Master’s Mustangs to 20-15 record.

NCU volleyball coach Mike Gaffaney said, “Tami brings a tremendous amount of experience and confidence to our program and to her position at Middle Blocker. She adds height and power at the net and will make an immediate impact in improving both our offense and defense. I know she is excited to finish out her collegiate volleyball career close to home and near family and friends.

Brown has played one season of collegiate basketball at Oregon State University, where she earned Honorable Mention All-Academic Pac-10 honors. She played in 16 games for the Beavers. Brown will have two years of eligibility remaining at NCU.

NCU women’s basketball coach Liz Turner-Bolton said, “We are obviously thrilled to have a student-athlete of Tami’s quality and caliber join our team. She is a gifted and versatile athlete that is as comfortable on the perimeter as she is in the paint. For a player of her size she is incredibly quick and will be able to play a variety of positions.

“Tami’s basketball IQ is incredibly high and as an All-Academic selection in the Pac-10, she clearly understands classroom expectations as a Beacon. She comes from an amazing family of athletes so she understands the value of competition and the spirit of sports. She will be the ultimate fit for us, given her level of maturity and her strong desire to teach and coach. She will be a wonderful addition to our program not only because of who she is as an athletes, but also who she is as a person.”
