PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific College announced that Grant High School standout Tre Battle has signed a letter of intent to participate in men’s basketball for the 2012-13 season.

Battle, a 6-5 guard, averaged 14.2 points per game as a senior for coach Tony Broadous and led the Generals to an 18-6 overall record. He was named 1st Team All-City by the Portland Public Schools Department of Athletics. Battle was also named 1st Team All-Special 6A District #1 after his outstanding senior season.

“We are very pleased to have Tre join our program,” said Knight head coach Jared Valentine. “He is a tremendous athlete with the ability to help us right away. He is still maturing physically and will only get better. We love to have local players in our program and I’m glad he chose to stay close to home. Tre will receive a quality education right here in Portland at Warner Pacific.”

Battle will join a Knight team that posted a 24-9 record in 2011-12, and earned a 7th straight berth to the NAIA Div. II National Championship Tournament.
