COMPLETE RESULTS

FOREST GROVE, Ore.—Winning nine events wasn’t enough for the Concordia track at the Pacific Twilight team as four of those wins came in stadium-record performances over a two-day meet held at Lincoln Park Stadium.

Andrew Landstrom, an NAIA cross country All-American in the fall, opened the onslaught by shattering the meet and stadium record in the men’s 5,000-meters run. Crossing in 14:37.13, Landstrom pulled away for a 22-second win over Southern Oregon’s Eric Gelfi. Landstrom’s time not only battered the meet mark of 14:48.01 by nearly 11 seconds, but it established CU’s school record after nipping the previous school best of 14:37.46 held by Eric Burck. Also in the race, CU’s Brandon Schmuckley posted a 22-second career best of his own with a 15:37.47.

The Cavs received meet and stadium records in three throwing events with Eric Whalen capturing the men’s shot put with a 57-7 (17.60m), Nate Moses the men’s discus with a 192-7 (58.70m) and Sharayah Kenady in the women’s hammer with a 184-9 (56.32m).

Whalen, the NAIA’s No. 1 ranked shot putter continued to pile on to his school record with an eight-inch improvement from his 56-11 1/4 effort from earlier in the season. Moses, Anthony Lantz and Adam Riddle joined Whalen with season bests in the shot as CU throwers went 1-3-4-5 in the event.

Moses, meanwhile, added exactly two inches to the previous CU school record of 1907 set by two-time NAIA national champion Nik Kay during the 2008 season. Moses won the event by nearly 40 feet over teammate Bo Johnson and added more than 20 feet to the previous stadium record.

Johnson generated a record of his own with a 190-7 (58.08m) heave in the hammer throw to best the stadium and meet record of 185-2 (56.44m) set by former Cavalier Greg Schultz, himself also a two-time NAIA national champion. On the women’s side, Kenady unleashed a 184-9 (56.32m) to edge teammate Gabriella Dixson’s 164-3 (50.06m). Dixson came back to win the discus with a 163-5 (49.81m) and Kayla Xavier nabbed the vent title in the shot put with a 46-4 3/4 (14.14m).

Elsewhere on the track, Cory Pena hit the NAIA automatic qualifying barrier with a 1:51.44 in the 800 and NyEma Sims replicated the feat in the women’s 400, winning the one-lap sprint with a 56.56. Sims flirted with the stadium record of 56.20 set by teammate Catherine Sims last season.  Sims also recorded career bests in the long jump (17-4 3/4) and the high jump (4-11).

The CU women’s middle distance crew shower off the prowess in the 1,500 as three Cavs hit the NAIA ‘A’ mark. Junia Limage placed fourth overall with a 4:34.29 and was immediately followed by Lauren Moran with a 4:35.81. Placing seventh, Emily Painter clocked a 4:37.80 to give Cu its third auto entry to nationals in the event while Natalie Ball finished in 14th at 4:46.23 and Sarah Whybark hit a personal record with a 4:46.58.

The final school record and event win of the day came in the men’s 400-meter relay where a 42.29 clocking tackled the previous school record of 42.42.
