SOU Track Competes at Pacific Twilight's First Day
DAY ONE RESULTS
FOREST GROVE – The Southern Oregon track and field teams began the final regular season meet Friday night with strong performances in several events Friday evening at the Pacific Twilight.
Max Perry improved on his NAIA “A” standard in the hammer throw, finishing second with a mark of 57.01 meters, 187 feet. His throw moves him into the NAIA top 10 for the event this season. Tyler Tompkins hit a season-best mark in the hammer as well, improving on his NAIA “B” standard with a throw of 52.31 meters (171-11) to place sixth in the event.
Eric Avila placed fourth in the 1500-meter run to lead a group of six SOU finishers among the top 15. David Sherman placed second in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:34.87. Alexandra Rudd placed eighth in the women’s 5000-meter with a time of 18:01.13, and Nicole Leaf placed ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.71 meters (31-10 ¼).
The Raiders will return to action Saturday at 10 a.m., when they finish the 2012 regular season during the second day of the Pacific Twilight.
