NU's Wagner Wins 1500 at SMU Invite
LACEY, Wash. – Northwest University’s Lindsey Wagner (Lacey, Wash.) won the women’s 1500 run at the annual St. Martin’s Invitational Meet today breaking the tape 4:44.90, shaving four seconds off her previous best. It was Lindsey's second straight first place finish in the event which she also won at the Spike Arlt Meet in Ellensburg two weeks ago. Wagner’s teammate, Kelsey Anderson took second (4:53.86) giving the Eagles the 1-2 finish. Freshman Meagan Governor was sixth crossing the finish line in 4:59.88 as all three qualified for the CCC championships.
Wagner also took 4th in the 800m run with a time of 2:18.30. NU’s Paige DeLapp (Vancouver, Wash.) took second in the 800 in a time of 2:14.42, three seconds better than her previous best, an NAIA qualifier and 8th best in the NAIA this season. Freshman Joanna Sowers finished fifth in the event (2:18) as the Eagles placed three runners in the top five. NU had six runners finish in the top 15 of the event with Wagner, DeLapp and Sowers all finishing in CCC qualifying times and all six recording personal bests.
