FULL HEPTATHLON RESULTS
OREGON CITY, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University track and field student-athlete, Kimmy Moore, claimed the Cascade Collegiate Conference heptathlon title Friday.
Moore cruised to the victory with a total of 4,481 points, well ahead of the second place finisher, NyEma Sims of Concordia, who had 3,727 points. Moore’s point total is the second most ever at the conference meet, and is third best on the EOU all-time list. It also easily broke her personal record of 4,259 points set in 2010. The Noxen, Mont., native has the top mark currently in the NAIA. Rebeca Barajas of Central Methodist has the second best total with 4,267 points.
The Mountaineers’ Jessianne Heley finished in fifth place with 3,366 points, while Colby Patton came in seventh place with 3,134 points. Thanks to those finishes, Eastern left the multi-event championships with 16 team points.
Moore entered the second day with a high point total of 2,622. She started the day with a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 16 feet, 6.5 inches. Sims won the event with a top leap of 16 feet, 8.5 inches. Heley was in seventh at 13 feet, 5.5 inches, while Patton had a mark of 12 feet, 6 inches.
Corban then took the top two spots in the sixth event, the javelin. Jenny Harman and Christy Mosier had the top marks of 109 feet, 10 inches and 105 feet. Moore came in third at 94 feet, 4 inches. Heley was in sixth 89 feet, 2 inches and Patton was in ninth with a mark of 75 feet, 4 inches.
Moore won the last event, the 800 meters, with a top time of 2:19.11. She gained 836 points after beating the competition by nearly seven seconds. Heley was in third at 2:30.38, and Patton came in sixth 2:45.22.
Eastern Oregon is going for the sweep, as Robbie Haynie leads the decathlon after the seventh event. Stay tuned for results for the decathlon.
