WP's Andrew Johnson is tied for the lead after Day 1 of C of I Invite
WILDER, Idaho – A barn-burner is brewing after Day 1 of the College of Idaho Invitational, as the top-six teams sit just 15 strokes apart after 36 holes at River Bend Golf Course.
North Idaho College holds a slim one-stroke lead over Concordia University heading into the final round.
NIC (298-293 591) leads the men's race, with Eli Bowen sitting in third place with a two-over 146. CU (302-290 592) sits a stroke back, as Jed Dalton is tied for the tournament lead with an even-par 144, with teammate Jesse Heinly two strokes back.
Warner Pacific (295-303 598) is a surprising third, carding their lowest team score of the season in Round 1, thanks to Andrew Johnson, who is tied for the lead with his even-par 144. Division II Northwest Nazarene (300-301 601) is 10-strokes out of the lead, with Zach Grunig tied for third with a two-over 146.
Corban (306-299 605) and The C of I (304-302 606) sit in fifth and sixth, as Joey Duwe for the Warriors and the Yotes Kyle DeLorey each shot a three-over 147, as did Tyler Falk of Northwest Christian (306-308 614), who sit 23 strokes off the pace.
The final round will begin tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
