SPOKANE, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon University track and field team hit a pair of NAIA National Championship automatic-qualifying marks at the Northwest Scoring Clash WAR V Saturday.

Alma Garcilazo won the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:11.77. Her time is currently the top time in the NAIA, and broke she broke her own school record, previously 2:12.01 set in 2010. It easily surpassed the NAIA auto mark of 2:14.50.

Trevor Barrett hit an auto-mark in the javelin at 195 feet, 8 inches. He currently has the fourth best mark in the NAIA, and second best in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The throw is second best on the EOU all-time list, breaking his previous personal record set earlier this season.

Isaac Updike had an NAIA provisional-qualifying mark in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:58.91. The time is currently fourth-best in the conference.

The Mountaineers hit 31 Cascade Conference Championship qualifying standards Saturday. Barrett and Carson Hendryx each hit three CCC marks. Barrett finished fourth in the hammer throw and 19th in the discus. Hendryx hit marks in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw.

The CCC women’s qualifiers for EOU were Kadie Booth in the 100 and 200 meters, Sarah Beck in the pole vault, Laura Hansen in the 800 meters, and Allison Rodgers in the long jump and triple jump.

The men’s qualifiers were Michael Wanta in the steeplechase, Brian Bragg and Kody Coxen in the 1,500 meters, Tyler Watson in the 100 and 200 meters, Chris Wilson in the 400-meter hurdles, Taylor Owens in the 200 meters, Travis Simpson in the high jump and long jump, Jake Wilcox in the shot put, Brian Wickham in the discus and hammer throw, Tyler Bruck in the discus and hammer throw and Max Van Fossen in the discus and hammer throw.
