KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University’s new head volleyball coach, Steve Bain, announced the signing of setter Ashton Arbuthnot of Puyallup, Washington, to play for the Eagles this fall.

Arbuthnot will be graduating from Rogers High School in Puyallup this spring and has earned three varsity letters in volleyball during her playing career.  A two-time team captain, Ashton’s teams played in the WIAA state tournaments in 2009, ’10 and ’11. She earned South Puget Sound All-League honorable mention honors in 2009 and was a second team selection for the SPSL South in 2010 and 2011. Arbuthnot was also named Puyallup Herald Athlete of the Week in 2011. An outstanding student, she earned the WIAA Outstanding Scholastic Award three times (2009-2011).

“Recruiting a talented setter with the volleyball IQ and technical ability to immediately compete for playing time was the #1 priority for 2012,” said NU head coach, Steve Bain. “Ashton is that player, possessing the mindset, skills, and work ethic to become a top player in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.  I am elated that Ashton will play her collegiate volleyball here at Northwest University and am confident that she will have an outstanding career in our program.”
