EUGENE, Ore. – Fourth-year Head Coach Corey Anderson announced on Wednesday that two athletes from Northern California’s premier basketball program at De La Salle High School will be headed to play for the Beacons this fall. They join former teammate Travis Pacos, who will be a sophomore next season.
As a senior, 6’1” Guard Nick Sullivan earned All-East Bay Athletic League honorable mention, averaging seven points and four rebounds per game. Sullivan earned a reputation at De La Salle for his work ethic and character, as well as his ability to play his best in the Spartans biggest games. He scored 16 points against nationally ranked Archbishop Mitty, another Northern California powerhouse program.
Remi White, also a 6’1” Guard, comes in on the heels of a strong senior campaign in which he averaged eight points and seven rebounds per game, earning First-Team All-EBAL honors. His forte was on defense, leading a team that allowed just 34 points per game during his senior year as the Spartans went 28-3.
Head Coach Corey Anderson said, “Both Nick and Remi will add great depth to our guards and wings for the coming seasons of NCU Basketball. The stability, leadership, and character that they both provide is immeasurable when trying to build a championship level team.
Sullivan and White come in with strong championship experience, having won the CIF-Northern Section Division I Championship as juniors, going on to play in the State Championship Game under head coach Frank Allocco.
“Coach Allocco does a great job of building a ‘team-first’ approach with his players through their offensive system, defensive philosophy and especially with their discipline,” said Anderson. “Nick and Remi are a direct reflection of the success with De La Salle basketball.”
Allocco said, “We are proud that Nick and Remi will be joining Travis on the NCU basketball team. Our players are a product of a Christian program that emphasizes discipline, love, and sacrifice. We are excited that they will be able to continue to excel in the classroom and on the basketball court in a similar environment that truly values the right things. Our players and program have great respect for Coach Anderson. His efforts have been instrumental in attracting our players to an outstanding university that will enhance their growth as student-athletes.”
The Beacons will enter the 2012-2013 season looking to rebound from a ninth-place finish in the Cascade Collegiate Conference last year. NCU went 11-19, including a 4-14 mark in the CCC.
