Mike Hedlund will lead the Oregon Tech women's soccer program into the 2012 campaign.
Oregon Tech Removes Interim Tag, Hedlund Named Head Coach
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech Director of Athletics, Michael Schell, announced that Mike Hedlund will take over head coaching duties of the women’s soccer program at the University beginning immediately.
Hedlund, who assumed interim head coaching duties of both the Oregon Tech men’s and women’s soccer programs in April, was the overwhelming player’s choice to assume head coaching duties on the women’s side.
Hedlund has been with both the men’s and women’s programs at Oregon Tech, spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach with the main focus on goal keeper duties.
“Mike will provide the program with a sense of direction and focus,” Schell said. “The athletic department, along with the returning players believe he is the perfect fit for our program. I expect Mike will lead this team in the right direction for us.”
A Klamath Union High School graduate, Hedlund played club soccer at the University of Oregon, graduating in 1992 with a degree in business. Hedlund was also a Willamette College of Law graduate (1997). Along with his assistant coaching duties at Oregon Tech, Hedlund previously served as an assistant to both the boys and girls soccer teams at KUHS and has coached soccer for Basin United teams in Klamath Falls.
