HELENA, Mont. – Northwest University's Lindsey Field’s goal wasn’t enough as three different players scored for No. 25 Carroll College as they defeated the Eagles (RV) 3-1, this afternoon in the season opener for both teams.

Macie Netz put Carroll on the scoreboard first with her goal 27:39 into the game, but Northwest U. came right back with Field’s goal less than three minutes later (30:31) off an assist from teammate Jordyn Wilson. Christa Saur got the game winner for the Saints at the 34:54 mark as she put one into the net. Northwest outshot Carroll 9-3 in the first half but couldn’t manage another score.

In the second half, Carroll’s Kelsey Dye scored the only goal of the half 6 minutes into the period as the 25th ranked Fighting Saints would earn the victory.

"I'm proud of the girls for going out hard and creating quality chances, but we just struggled putting it away," commented NU coach, Erin Redwine. "We will learn from this experience and keep building. I was proud of Sam Porter for making such an impact as a freshman."

Northwest U. (0-1-0) moves on to Billings to a game with Montana State on Saturday, August 18 at 6 p.m., and finishes their road trip on Monday, August 20 (1 p.m.) with a contest against Rocky Mountain College in Billings.
