SOU Volleyball Sweeps Pacific Union

ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon volleyball team got back on track Tuesday night, ending a two-match skid with a quick three-set sweep of Pacific Union at Ashland High School.
Southern Oregon, 3-2 overall this season, closed out the Pioneers with set scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-17. Pacific Union falls to 0-2 with the loss. The Raiders head to California tomorrow for the Biola Tournament on Thursday and Friday.
Natalie Scheller finished with a match-high 10 kills, while Caryn Westrick led the way with 19 assists and Renee Yomtob added 14 digs. Jenna Glantz led the Pioneers with nine kills as the Raiders limited Pacific Union to a -.062 attack percentage in the match.
Pacific Union led briefly in all three sets as they all remained close in the early going. In the opener, the Raiders closed the set on a 10-4 run to pull away, while a 13-point streak with Westrick serving in put the second set away. The third set featured a nine-point SOU streak to turn a 9-9 tie into a 17-9 advantage as the Raiders closed out the win.
