Junior Jenny Harman was one of three Warriors with 10-or-more kills thanks to an 11-kill performance Saturday against Great Falls in Corban's next-to-last match at the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge.
Corban Trio Registers Double Digit Kill Totals in Loss to Great Falls

SPOKANE, Wash. – The trio of senior Chandra Teague, junior Jenny Harman, and junior Olivia Shropshire combined for 37 kills, but it was not enough as Corban University's women's volleyball team dropped a heart-breaking five set match against nationally-ranked Great Falls, 3-2 (25-15, 16-25, 25-22, 17-25, 6-15), Saturday at the first-ever Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge inside the HUB Sports Center.
With today's result, Corban falls to 0-4 and Great Falls improves to 5-3. The Warriors opened their season at the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge, while the Argonauts are 3-1 in four matches so far this weekend.
Offensively, Corban was led by Teague with 16 kills to go along with an 11-kill effort by Harman and 10 kills by Shropshire. Sophomore Katherine Salness would come off the Warriors' bench to hand out a season and match-high 33 assists, while freshman Kiersten Hilt anchored Corban's defense with a team-high 20 digs.
The opening set would belong completely to Corban, as the Warriors ran out to a quick four-point lead (7-3) on a Great Falls attack error. Corban would continue to apply the offensive pressure gaining another four-point advantage (10-6) on a service ace by junior Alex Matulewicz. After Great Falls battled back within three points (11-8), Corban used a 8-0 run to lead by 11 points (19-8) on a bad set by UGF's setter. Back-to-back hitting errors by Corban would allow Great Falls to get within seven points (23-15), but the Warriors would regroup and score the final two points with the set ending on another hitting error by the Argos for the 25-15 Corban victory.
Set #2 would see Great Falls jump out to an 11-point lead (20-9) thanks to a kill by Alyssa McEwan forcing a timeout by Corban head coach Tracy Smith. Following the break in action, the Warriors would get back within eight points (24-16) on a kill by sophomore Courtney Mulford but it was too little, too late as Great Falls tied the match at a set each thanks to a set-closing kill by Kelsey Vanuden for the 25-16 UGF victory.
The third set would see 12 ties with the final one happening at 21-21 before Corban used a set-closing 4-1 run that included kills by Harman and Teague, as well as a pair of Great Falls hitting errors for the 25-22 victory.
Set #4 would belong to Great Falls, as the Argos scored the opening three points and then built their lead to as much as eight points (25-17) thanks to a set-closing kill by Devon Bogart to knot things at two sets each sending the match to a fifth and deciding set.
In the fifth and final set, Great Falls would open on a 7-0 run before Corban would finally get on the board thanks to a kill by Shropshire. The Warrior would proceed to pull within four points (9-5) on a UGF attack error, but the Argos would use their high-powered offense en route to a match-closing 6-1 run that handed Great Falls the nine-point victory (15-6) to earn the hard-fought five-set win.
Vanuden would lead all players with a match-high 20 kills, while Bogart added 15 kills in the UGF victory. Averi Pasma and Kila Adams would split setting duties, as Pasma handed out a team-high 27 assists to go along with Adams' 26. Defensively, Jenna Prescott would lead all players with a match-high 21 digs to go along with a pair of three-block performances by Bogart and Tianna Harland.
Corban will close out play at the first-ever Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge this afternoon – Saturday, August 25th – against Montana Western beginning at 4:00 p.m. inside the HUB Sports Center in Spokane, Washington.
