SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Concordia University men’s golf team won the first Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament of the season on Tuesday, claiming a three-stroke victory over The University of Victoria. Junior Tyler Falk from host Northwest Christian University won medalist honors, defeating CU’s Jed Dalton by one stroke.
The Cavaliers finished with a team total of 910 (308-299-303) to hold off a late charge from the Vikes who shot a tournament-best 298 in Tuesdays third round to finish at 913. Corban University held the third spot and was second among CCC competitors, 24-strokes back of Concordia.
Warner Pacific took fourth (941) followed by Simpson University in fifth (952). Northwest Christian was next with a 958, then The College of Idaho (973) and Trinity Lutheran College (1021).
Falk fired a tournament-low two-under par 70 on Tuesday and ended the tournament just one over par (72-75-70=217). Dalton, who was tied for the lead after the second round, finished behind by just one shot (75-72-71=218). Corban’s Jared Lambert was third (77-73-72=222) followed by Andrew Johnson of Warner Pacific (75-73-776=224).
The next Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament is scheduled for October 15th and 16th. Hosted by Warner Pacific, the tournament will be played at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Washington.
