SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Concordia University bested The College of Idaho by 20 strokes in the third round to claim first place at the Northwest Christian University Invitational on Tuesday. Sunny Powers took medalist honors for the Cavaliers after firing a 232 on the Springfield Country Club course.
The Cavs claimed a 23-stroke win over the Yotes after holding just a three-shot lead at the end of day one. Concordia scored a 990 while the College of Idaho ended with a 1013. Host Northwest Christian University (1036) took third place after out-playing the C of I over the final two rounds by eight strokes. Warner Pacific (1086) finished fourth, followed by Simpson University (1157) and Corban University (1185).
Powers (80-78-74=232) claimed medalist honors by two strokes over the Yotes’ Trish Gibbens (80-74-80=234). Warner Pacific’s Scotti Jo Helmick took third, scoring a 240. Sarah Crofcheck from Northwest Christian took fourth (241).
The next Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament is scheduled for October 15th and 16th. Hosted by Warner Pacific, the tournament will be played at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Washington
