Eagles Spoil Lady Owls Home Opener 4-2

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) – The Oregon women’s soccer team started hot taking a 2-0 lead just 12 minutes into the match but Trinity Lutheran scored the next 4 goals to win 4-2 Monday night at Trevor Derrah Field. Trinity Lutheran improves to 2-8 with the win and Oregon Tech falls to 2-3 with the loss.

Oregon Tech’s Rebekah Nisbet scored on a long chip shot from 35 yards out as she took a cross from teammate Meghan Drost and scored over the Keeper’s head in the 5th minute.

Jacque Wood scored in an empty net just 12 minutes into the game giving Tech the early 2-0 lead as she followed up a Melanie Johnson shot that hit the left post.

The Eagles would then score in the 41st minute as Kayla Bunderson took a Malin Eriksson throw in and scored over Tech’s Goal Keeper Rebekah Matteri from 20 yards out making it a 2-1 game just before halftime.

The Eagles quickly tied the game at 2-2, just 15 minutes into the 2nd half as Alex Chick scored from 15 yards out.

Arinna Tomlin then put the visitors from Everett, Washington up 3-2 as she took a cross and lifted the ball just out of the reach of Matteri in the 70th minute.

Kaeli Eberth then put the game away in the 83rd minute beating Matteri in the box scoring into the lower left of the goal sealing the Eagles win at 4-2.

For the game Trintiy Lutheran outshot Tech 24-15 and also had a 15-9 advantage in shot on goal.

Oregon Tech will next host Northwest University in its Cascade Conference Opener on Friday, September 28th at 1:00 pm at Steen Sports Park.
